Pietrame Edizione Limitada Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2019
Abruzzo, ItalyFounded in 1960, Abruzzo's Cantina Tollo has grown into one of Italy's foremost CoOps, with nearly 800 shareholders and approximately 3000 hectares of vineyards. They bottle 30% of their wine as Cantina Tollo and sell the bulk to other producers. This Montepulciano comes from 25-30-year-old vines and clay/limestone sites around Tollo, where the CoOp is based. After a lengthy maceration and warm fermentation, this rested 18 months in French barriques before an additional 6 months in bottle. Chewy black cherry, dried leaves, flake salt flood the juicy palate, with an easy lifted acidity and fine, softly sticky tannins to frame through a bitter floral cassis end. Drinking at peak now, ideally with roast root veg and / or pork dishes.Tasted: 19 September 2022Tasted by: Prices:BC | $14.99 | 750ml | select private retailers |
