Bibbiano Chianti Classico 2019

Tuscany, ItalyThe 220 hectare Tenuta di Bibbiano is one of Chianti Classico’s historical wine properties, mentioned in an official document of 1089 as the Castello di Bibiune. In the 1960s it was just one of 36 wineries producing and bottling wine under their own labels. Today, Tommaso Marrocchesi Marzi manages the estate and since 2006 has also served on the Board of Directors of the Consorzio. He owns the winery jointly with his brother Federico. They organically farm 27 ha of vines on slopes between 270-300m, across a range of soils including calcareous clays, alberese, and limestones. Sourced from all the their vineyards, this Sangiovese fermented for 3 weeks in stainless, prior to aging one year in cement vats. Black cherry, raspberry and cranberry is scented with subtle eucalyptus and ample dusty earth. The wine's tannins are long and smooth, backed by bright acidity and ending with a warming finish.Tasted: 18 October 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
