Phantom Creek Estates Phantom Creek Vineyard Syrah 2018
Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPhantom Creek Syrah hails from one of the most famous vineyards, Phantom Creek, in the south Okanagan. It's not a shy wine, but it offers more elegance than you might expect, especially up front and on the mid-palate. The last half of the wine is a peppery, intense, wild syrah that reminds me of a Crozes-Hermitage with slightly more style. With only 1.2 acres planted, a meagre four barrels production in 2018, there isn't much to go around. Floral, savoury, smoky, and fresh, this is an explosive wine on the palate that will reward more time in the cellar, perhaps a much as a decade.
