Markus Altenburger Weiss 2018

Burgenland, Weinland Österreich, AustriaMarkus took over the family winery in 2006, turning the focus towards varieties that best express their unique Leithakalk terroir. From Burgenland's Jois, this blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Ottonel, Traminer, Neuburger, Grüner Veltliner, and Welschriesling was macerated up to 10 days and native fermented in older oak and concrete egg before one years' rest in oak and bottling without filtration. This is a striking orange, finely stencilled with bergamot, apricot skin, quince, chamomile, crystalline lemon, clover honey, and ample mineral salts on the lengthy finish. Very precise and finessed and fine and impressive. If you've been hesitant about orange wines, seek this out and change your mind.Tasted: 25 September 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
