Carneros, Napa Valley, California, United StatesStarmont was built in 2006 by the Schlatter Family, owners of Merridale Vineyard. 40% of this wine came from Stanly Ranch, with the balance from vineyards throughout Carneros. A combination of barrel fermentation (55%) and stainless steel tank fermentation (45%) was used, and this rested 10 months in 75% French oak, with partial MLF. Gentle cream, lemon curd, lemon blossom and pear is scented with vanilla across the gently expansive mid palate. Acidity keeps this thankfully fresh and moderate at 13.5%.
