Merryvale Vineyards Chardonnay Carneros 2018
Carneros, Napa Valley, California, United StatesThis Chardonnay was grown primarily on their historic Stanly Ranch Estate Vineyard in Carneros, with some lots from the Hyde and Bayview Vineyards blended in. These vineyards’ proximity to the San Pablo Bay helps keep a cool freshness to these Carneros wines. This was entirely native barrel fermented, with full MLF. The wine spent 11 months in 30% new French oak barrels. This is complex and layered with hazelnuts, lemon curd, lemon peel, and flicks of brown butter on a medium+ palate, finishing with a kiss of vanilla. Acidity is lofted and gently tightened with a lemon pith brace.
