Sprucewood Shores Hawk's Flight Reserve Barrel Chardonnay 2017
Pelee Island, Ontario, CanadaSprucewood Shores is located along the shores of Lake Erie, in the Lake Erie North Shore appellation. They were selling their fruit to neighbouring wineries up until 2004, when they decided to start bottling their own label. As the name suggests, this is a very barrel-forward chardonnay, with the wood entirely dominating the wine even now 4 years along. Chewy and dense, with ripe peach, cream, baked apple, hazelnut infiltrated with toasted spices through a warming, clipped finish.
