Pearl Morissette Oxyde 2019

Lincoln Lakeshore, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaFrom Niagara's leading naturalist producer (rather, Canada's iconic naturalist producer), this riesling comes off Redfoot Vineyard in Lincoln Lakeshore. Whole bunch presses were native fermented slow and long in a combo of old foudres and concrete, where it remained on lees, sans bâtonnage, for 16 months. The wine was blended and moved to stainless for 2 months prior to bottling unfined and unfiltered. Oxyde is an apt name for this natural wine, showing some degrees of oxidation, but also VA and some ethyl acetate as it streaks across the palate. Oyster shell, pear skin, lime pith and peel side an earthy, leesy base, all lashed with a mineral salinity, and lifted/gifted with riesling's high acidity. Hoping for a purer image of the grape in the future from this cuvée.Tasted: 26 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
