Martin's Lane Naramata Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOne of a quad of single-vineyard pinot noirs released in 2016, this came off the glacial silt topped granite bedrock of Naramata Ranch vineyard, at the far north end of the bench. Planted in 2008, this blends Pommard, 943 (the newer Dijon clone with small, oval berries and long bunches), and 667. After a native ferment in concrete, with 35% whole clusters and one month maceration, this rested 17 months in French and Austrian extra tight-grain oak before bottling unfiltered. Deeply hued, with smoked plum, wild blackberry, black cherry, hints of anise, and ample desert scrub on a fuller palate, kept fresh and aloft with lofted acidity. Tannins are long, fine, and well-absorbed into the dense fruit, taking this to a lingering peppery, brown spiced finish. Drinking well now.Tasted: 08 August 2021Tasted by: Prices:
