Martin's Lane Fritzi’s Vineyard Riesling 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFritzi's Vineyard, named for owner Anthony von Mandl's mother, is a small vineyard at the base of West Kelowna's Mt. Boucherie, also the home site of Mission Hill. This clone 21B riesling was planted in 1999, and is the first parcel picked by Martin's Lane winemaker Shane Munn every year. After a native ferment in large format German oak, including 48 hours skin / stem contact, this remained in the vessel for 6 months, on lees. Intense with lime pith and peel streaking across a streamlined palate, pulling green apple, crunchy pear, and an electric buzzy minerality along the textural palate with. The finish lingers with a stony hum, enticing further exploration. This smartly balances out the gentle 8 g/L RS with the racy acidity, leaving a wine that is drinking well now, and with time ahead.Tasted: 08 August 2021Tasted by: Prices:
