Kühling-Gillot Spätburgunder 2015

Rheinhessen, GermanyFrom the cellar. Kühling-Gillot is located in Bodenheim, Rheinhessen, and the Kühling family has been farming and making wine for more than 200 years. Until Roland Gillot married into the family in 1970, it was always run by women. Since 2006, the winery has been run by Carolin Spanier-Gillot and her husband H.O. Spanier. Their 23 hectares of vines have been cultivated biodynamically since 2005. This 2015 is still quite alive, though certainly worn some with time, as evidenced by the paling, bricking hue and autumnal aromas on the nose. The palate is mellow with dried cherry, raspberry and seasoned with subtle baking spices. Acidity is lofted, easily buoying this to a lingering salt and tea-kissed finish. A lovely example of ageing pinot; this still has time to go ahead.Tasted: 24 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
