Hester Creek Viognier Stone's Throw Vineyard 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSmaller berries in 2020 have led to intense flavours, and a good example is this single-vineyard viognier grown by the Fournier family, long-time contract growers in Oliver. Stone’s Throw Vineyard is ideally situated at an elevation of just over 1000 feet, adjacent to the Black Sage Bench. The gravelly, sandy loam soil is covered with vines that run north/south for superior sun exposure. After a careful whole cluster pressing, the wine is fermented and aged on its fine lees for four months. The Storied Series Viognier is an exciting addition to the Hester Creek lineup, albeit at a tiny 330 cases. The wine is essentially dry at under 4 grams per litre residual sugar, but don’t be surprised by its bright, sweet, unoaked orange notes. It’s a standout aperitif but would be fine at the dinner table.Tasted: 14 July 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
