Champagne Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Special Club Grand Terroirs de Chardonnay 2014

Champagne, FranceSpecial Club (Club Trésors) is an invite-only group of 28 grower champagne vignerons, recognized for the quality of their wines. A Special Club champagne is different from their other cuvées, can only be made in outstanding vintage years, and is packaged in the special distinctive bottle. This 2014 Chardonnay is sourced from a selection of the oldest vines (more than 40 years old), with a majority of Cramant Grand Cru (60%), 25% Chouilly Grand Cru, with 15% from their home village of Cuis (Premier Cru). After a minimum of 4 years on lees, this was finished with 5 g/L in September 2020. Showing some worthy development at this point, with the power of the grand crus tempered with some age. Toasted almonds, meringue, vanillin, brioche flood the expansive palate, shaped with a chalky brace. The finish is subtle. This quietly confident cuvée is one for drinking now.Tasted: 20 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
