Adamo Oaked Chardonnay 2016
Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaFrom Four Mile Creek's Willms Vineyard, this was planted in 1996 on sandy, stony soils. As the name suggests, this was French oak fermented and aged for 10 months (29% new). Though the oak is certainly present, this is now well-integrated (5 years along), with the wood giving more of a sweet spiced vanilla framework to the ripe and soft yellow apple, pear, vanilla palate. Quite complete, and quite intense for 12.5%.
