Peak Cellars Sparkling Riesling 2019

Lake Country, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the winery's inaugural Riesling fizz, a traditional method sparkling harvested from Block 4, one of the highest sites in their estate vineyard. This aged on lees for near a year, and was dosed with sugar dissolved in a base of 2019 Riesling Block 11 wine, adding 5 g/L RS. My bottle opened with a mere trickling of effervescence, which dissipated quickly in the glass, leaving tight lime blossom and peel, crunchy green pear, green apple, and a streak of riesling's tell-tale acidity on the dry, chalky palate. A good first attempt, but we need more bubbles in the bottle for something of this caliber (and price).Tasted: 27 June 2021Tasted by: Prices: BC 38.00 winery online/direct, select private retailers Producer: O'Rourke's Peak CellarsDistributors: Revelry Import Company
