Le Clos Jordanne Les Grand Clos Chardonnay 2018

Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThomas Bachelder's prowess with pinot noir and chardonnay cannot be denied, and his return to Twenty Mile Bench's Le Clos Jordanne, where he was founding winemaker from 2003-2010, is a wonderful turn indeed. This is the second chardonnay release since his return, sourced from the western part of the Le Clos Jordanne Estate Vineyard, Le Grand Clos. This is a powerful wine, ripe with the 2018 vintage, and gentle treatment. Whole cluster pressed, this was native fermented, mostly in 228 L barrels, prior to aging in French barrels for 22 months total (20% new), on lees. Creamy flax, lemon blossom, almond, red apple leads the fuller palate, bracketed with wood and finishing with cedar spicing. Drinking well now in youth, but will continue in your cellar.Tasted: 01 June 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
