CheckMate Artisanal Winery Capture Chardonnay Border Vista Vineyard 2018

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaBorder Vista Vineyard on East Osoyoos Bench is the warmest site that Checkmate farms, sitting just a few metres from the United States border. The single block designated 2C was planted to Dijon Clone 76 in 1997, on finely textured, complex, low-nutrient, sandy soils. The fermentation is native, and it is all done in water-bent French oak barrels. As in the past, it is surprising how fresh and elegant this wine can be given how warm the site is. It gets regular b√Ęttonage for 16 months of ageing in 50 percent new oak. Capture is all about texture and weight, but with restraint. Look for creamy, buttery apple streaked with pears, spice, honey, tangerine and sea salt. A perfect wine for fresh BC halibut.Tasted: 12 June 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices: BC 90.00 winery direct, restaurants, select private wine shops BC 200.00 1500 winery direct, restaurants, select private wine shops Producer: CheckMate Artisanal WineryDistributors: Mark Anthony Wines and Spirits
