Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label 2015

Coonawarra, South Australia, AustraliaThis is a Coonawarra classic, and for a good reason. From the tiny sliver of land that is Coonawarra's red terra rossa (iron oxide clays over limestone), Sue Hodder creates this affordable benchmark from 44ish year old organically farmed vines, and fermenting over 30 days in a mix of open and static fermenters. This then aged 18 months in French oak (19% new). Ripe cherry, blackcurrant is seasoned with dried herbs and flicks of mint, framed by fine, firm, lightly grippy oak through the lingering, saline finish where you really feel that limestone buzz. Great freshness for its 13.8%, drinking well now or with time ahead in the cellar. Sample tasted at Global Comparative Tasting: Cabernet Sauvignon.Tasted: 12 May 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
