Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label 2010

Coonawarra, South Australia, AustraliaBlack Label has been made since 1954 and is considered the classic Coonawarra red. Chief winemaker Sue Hodder only uses the top 20 - 25% of cabernet fruit off the Wynns estate. Built to age the 'Black Label' fruit averages about 33 years in age and the delicious 2010 is the 55th year it has been made. Expect a highly expressive cool red fruit style that spends about 16 months in a mixture of new and older French barriques & hogsheads. The attack is classic Coonawarra albeit with excellent ripeness. The nose is a mix of black cherry, earth and brambles with a strong core of dark blackberry fruit with floral undertones. The differences in previous decades are the glossy, rich soft tannins. You can drink this now with powerful meat dishes or cellar for a decade. Excellent value.Tasted: 11 November 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
