Stag's Hollow Tempranillo 2018

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaStag's Hollow may have made me less of a skeptic of Okanagan Falls tempranillo, which is something I wasn't expecting to write anytime soon. Compared to the Joven, this is riper and richer, both darker-fruited and more savoury. Alongside black cherry and plum, there's tobacco, leather, and perfumed spices, the latter perhaps from the dollop of syrah (4.9%). The emphasis is still on the fruit, with very little impact from oak, and there's some secondary character after 20 months in barrel. This is drinking well now, thanks to the fresh acidity and fine, nicely handled tannins, though it could still go another 3-4 years.Tasted: 12 May 2021Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
