Stag's Hollow Tempranillo 2011
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis wine showed better at The Nationals but today its massive new oak blanket just socked in the fruit. The nose is a smoky, espresso, vanilla affair with plenty of smoky oak, gingerbread and poultry spice aromas. The attack is on the lean side with low, or at least well hidden fruit, more smoke, coffee bean, vanilla, resin, liquorice and sour cherry flavours. Time will tell if it's too much oak but what's clear is the blush is off the early fruit. Give it three years in the bottle.Tasted: 02 December 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $30.00 | 750ml | winery direct and private wine shops |
