M. Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2019

Côtes du Rhône, Rhone Valley, FranceThe great Chapoutier is synonymous with the Rhône Valley, in the wine business there since 1879, and now in their 7th generation with infamous Michel Chapoutier at the helm. Belleruche is the #1 wine brand from Côtes-du-Rhône. Meaning “beautiful beehive” in French, the Belleruche name is inspired by the abundance of bee and beehives that prosper in the sustainable M. Chapoutier vineyards. This is a biodynamically farmed 80% grenache / 20% syrah blend from across the appellation and its varied stony / clay / silty / sandy soils. The grapes are vinified in concrete and stainless, where they remain for 6 months. Soft, fleshy raspberry, black cherry, is seasoned with cracked pepper and broken ferrous stoniness, wrapped with a savoury, scrubby, herbal garrigue. Tannins are sticky, acidity moderate, making this friendly and welcoming to crack into now. Impressive wine to be made at these standards, at this scale, and taste like this.Tasted: 06 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
