Château Valentin 2017

Bordeaux, FranceAn early frost and some September rain marred what otherwise would have been an excellent year in Bordeaux. That said, given the technology available and the skill of the Bordelais, the vintage is solid, if not better than the pundits first predicted, as evidenced by the 2017 Château Valentin that hails from Blaye-Côtes de Bordeaux. The chateau is situated on the right bank directly across from the Haut-Médoc. The wine is an unoaked, merlot-dominant blend containing 70-80 percent merlot mixed with cabernet franc and a lesser amount of petit verdot. Expect a light, fresh, savoury, red-fruited cherry affair with a touch of earth and a medium-long finish—classic mid-week Bordeaux for your lamb chops or flank steak. Drink or hold through 2025.Tasted: 06 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
