Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFoxtrot created its second label, Foxly, so it had a tier of wines that were approachable and ready to drink upon release. This Reserve offering from the 2016 vintage certainly fits that bill and is ready for prime time. From Foxtrot's Naramata estate, there's a notch more complexity and ripeness here than you'll find in their entry-level pinot, with black strawberry, cola, and vanilla-tinged oak after aging for 18 months in barrel (30% new). Even with that darker fruit profile, this is still more medium-bodied than full, with appealing freshness and quite fine, supple tannins. Foxly Reserve Pinot Noir 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFoxly Reserve Pinot Noir comes off the Naramata Bench with a third of the fruit fermented whole cluster and punch downed three times a day over two weeks. That fruit is aged a year and a half in French oak barrels, of which about one third are new. Clean and fresh on the nose, the Reserve comes with a dark cherry nose and palate with spicy, toasted oak in support underneath. The textures are silky, and the fruit deep, dark and welcoming on the palate. This will be a hit with consumers who want something to drink now. The Reserve Pinot Noir comes from Naramata Bench estate fruit, with 1/3 fermented whole cluster, with thrice daily punch downs over 2 weeks. This was then transferred to French barrels (30% new) for 18 months prior to bottling, and another 2 years' rest. Structured by the wood, though tamed with time in bottle, this flows along the medium+ palate with dark cherry, black raspberry, brooding black plum, tobacco, and browning spices.
