Rust Wine Co. South Rock Vineyard Syrah 2018
Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe folks at Rust are celebrating single vineyards with a trio of syrah releases finished under colourful wax capsules from three different soil types. The Ferreira Vineyard Syrah, from the Oliver area, is marked with yellow wax, while the blue marks the Lazy River Vineyard Syrah in the Similkameen Valley. The orange capsuled South Rock on the Golden Mile Bench is the most open of the 2018 trio of syrahs, presenting with a fatter, broader approach and plenty of sweet black fruit, sweet vanilla, and meaty notes. The tannins are almost non-existent, but there is enough acidity to keep it all together through the finish — simple, easy sipping and nearly ready to drink.
