Peak Cellars Chardonnay 2018
Lake Country, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom their estate Carr's Landing vineyard, this was planted from 2013 through 2015. Grapes were whole bunch pressed to tank for an over night settle (with no additives), and then racked to barrels for ferment and 10 months aging, with very minimal MLF (20% new wood). The wood is certainly present and in the fore, with creamy, spiced and toasty notes woven throughout lemon curd, perfumed cream, ripe pear, baked yellow apples. There is a pop of lemon peel that gives this a welcome freshening, but the overall heft weighs it down.
