La Braccesca Vino Nobile de Montepulciano 2018
Tuscany, ItalyLa Braccesca spends about ten days on skins during the fermentation process before going to large oak casks for twelve months. Post bottling, in the second spring of its life, the wine gets an additional twelve months of ageing at the winery. The mix is mostly sangiovese, or prugnolo gentile as it's known in the region, with a small amount of merlot to bolster the mid-palate. I like the wild aromatic floral nature of this wine, and the rich, chewy, blackberry and black cherries that finish with a mineral underbelly.
