La Braccesca Vino Nobile de Montepulciano 2009

Tuscany, ItalyVino Nobile de Montepulciano still struggles in Canada likely because drinkers confuse the label with the much more ordinary Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. In the case of La Braccesca the farm extends over 420 hectares and includes two key vineyard blocks. The first is located in Montepulciano (103 hectares) while the second (162 hectares) is situated at the foot of the hills which surround the city of Cortona. Expect a fragrant nose with ripe cherry notes flecked with tobacco and spice. On the palate expect more cherry and blackberry fruit with soft fine grained tannins and minerality. A supple style red with finesse. Try this with veal chops. The blend is 90 percent prugnolo gentile and 10 percent merlot.Tasted: 06 December 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
