Chateau de Ferrand 2015

Saint Émilion, Libourne, Bordeaux, FranceChâteau de Ferrand was built during the reign of Louis XIV in the 17th century on the plateau of Saint-Hippolyte. It was bought in 1978 by Baron Bich, only the second owner of the property currently rated a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. In 2015, by all accounts a top quality year in Bordeaux, the blend was 79/11/10 merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon. At this point, it is a classic St. Emilion that is just coming into its own at the age of six, and it should remain on this plateau through 2026. Harmony best describes the wine in the mouth that opens with hints of dark chocolate, espresso, dried herbs and dense but highly refined tannins that flow through to the end of the palate. It’s almost opulent by Bordeaux standards but with a mineral undercurrent to keep it elegant and aligned. Should be a winner with the likes of veal, pork chicken, mushrooms or grilled beef.Tasted: 08 March 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
