Antinori Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vignaferrovia 2015

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyVignaferrovia is only produced in the finest vintages from the grapes of a small 4 hectare parcel in the vineyard adjacent to the 19th century railway station on the estate. The soil is mostly calcareous clay, rich in small stones. The wine is elegant by nature, featuring freshness over ripeness, and style over power. The first vintage of Vignaferrovia was 2004 but was not produced in 2005, 2008 and 2011. Look for a strong undercurrent of that burnt earth and scrubby forest floor before the floral notes chime in. There is some luxury here, but Antinori style, reserved but substantial with intense red fruit dried and fresh, and again with refined tannins. 2015 Vignaferrovia has a very bright and long future ahead of it. Buy and hold if you have the patience.Tasted: 19 March 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
