Gérard Bertrand Orange Gold 2020

FranceOrange Gold is a mix of chardonnay, grenache blanc, viognier, marsanne, mauzac, muscat, and clairette fermented in stainless steel before completing its ageing in the barrel. Bertrand, inspired by the orange wine movement, pays tribute to Georgia and makes a modern version of traditional wine. Orange Gold comes with a powerful aromatic nose of peaches, apricots, and plum. The palate has a touch of tannin without the bitterness, giving the entire wine a sheen of complexity. Bertrand says the colour reminds him of the sunsets he sees some 300 days a year in the south of France. Food matches run from Tarte Tatin and clementines, to grilled octopus, chicken curry, and hard cheeses.Tasted: 15 February 2021Tasted by: Prices:
