Château Pesquié Terrasses Blanc 2019

Ventoux, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe Chaudière family uses 'Terrasses' on their signature red, white and rosé blends to honour the work done by their ancestors, carving terraces into the Pyrenees hillsides around the winery. The poor limestone soil, once underwater, is the perfect medium for growing grapes. The cuvées are made from a mix of soils and varietals that reflect the terroir and cool-climate setting of Mont Ventoux. The family is committed to tension and freshness in their white wine. Terrasses Blanc comes off a limestone setting at an altitude of about 350 metres. It sets the mood easily, along with a swath of fresh citrus and white flowers on the nose. The blend is a 40/20/20 20 mix of viognier, grenache blanc, roussanne and clairette farmed biodynamically since 2015. The winemaking is simple, and post ferment is blended and aged in concrete and stainless steel vats. The attack is fairly intense, mixing fresh lemon-lime with more exotic litchi/pineapple.
