Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada5 Barrel is the reserve level pinot noir that blends two clones, 828 and 115, all grown at G-Spot Vineyards in East Kelowna. Traditionally it is a big, dark, rich style that gets plenty of new oak while it ages for eight months in the cellars. It presents much darker than the regular pinot, with black cherries, black raspberries, and strawberries mixed into a smoky oak and forest floor undercurrent. A sensual style that invites early-drinking and richer foods, such as baked salmon or duck pizza.Tasted: 17 November 2020Tasted by: Prices: BC 69.00 winery online/direct, select private retailers

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada5 Barrel is their premium pinot noir, with a barrel selection amounting to 121 cases produced this vintage. This was 35% whole cluster and entirely native fermented from their East Kelowna estate, with a 5-day cold soak and 17 days on skins before ageing in French oak for eight months (60% new). You can feel the wood shading this fuller, spiced pinot noir, plumped on the palate with sultry dark plums, brandied cherries, ripe blackberry. Tannins are wood spiced but supple, well integrated into the fruit. A supple, spiced, darker-toned pinot that could easily meet skirt steak or hearty grilled portobellos.Tasted: 19 December 2020Tasted by: Prices: BC 69.00 winery online/direct, select private retailers
