Château Pesquié Artemia 2018

Ventoux, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceOne of three single vineyard wines produced at Pesquié, Artemia takes full advantage of Mont Ventoux's sloping benches growing between 340-420 metres above sea level on mostly limestone soils, giving the wine a bony undercurrent. Most of the work is done by hand, and the vines are farmed organically, further promoting fruit purity. The blend is 75/25 syrah and grenache. There is real power here with perfectly ripe, vibrant black fruits dusted in garrigue and flecked with subtle white pepper and bacon. It takes you north toward the Hermitage style more than anything in the south. A modern look at high-end Ventoux through an organic/biodynamic lens. Cellar this a decade with no worries. Another Pesquié label that is well worth tracking down.Tasted: 30 November 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
