Montsant, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainThis gutsy, rich, internationally styled Montsant blends the region's increasingly-seen syrah with merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Destemmed grapes were fermented in stainless and then fermented in used French and American oak for 4 months. Ripe and dark fruited, with sweet kirsch, blackcurrant jam, roasted coffee, and sweet baking spice filling a round palate. Tannins are slight and sticky; welcome partnering this now with ribs.
