British Columbia, CanadaA better version of Block 7 appears in 2019, spurred on by “not to warm days and not too cool nights,” says winemaker Taylor Whelan. An extra cool September and October added hangtime to intensify the flavours. The underlying stony-ness in 2019 and what seems like a more reductive, leesy style has given the wine better balance, but make no mistake; the wine is riper and sweeter than the normal spectrum of pinot gris in the market with 8.1 g/l of residual sugar. Many will be attracted to its honeysuckle nose and full flavoured baled pear, ripe melon, flecked with salted caramel.
