Tenute N'Anticchia 2016

Sicily, ItalyPaolo Caciorgna is a renowned Italian Oenologist having worked in some of the greatest names in Tuscan viticulture. Along with consulting to many Italian wine producers he has his own label, Pietro Caciorgna named in dedication to his Father Pietro. Paolo acquired plots of ancient ungrafted vines in the Contrada Marchesa. A selection from his three vineyards, this is 100+ year old unrooted vines, aged in stainless, and then rested for 18 months in barrel. Pencil shavings, leather, wild mediterranean scrub open this big wine, imbued with an intense medicinal cherry, cinnamon and raspberry. This is a deeply sun-ripened, wild, big red, with ample chewy, sticky tannins, reflective of the climate and area. Remarkable fresh, though quite warming on the finish, and best suited to wild boar or hearty pork dishes.Tasted: 18 September 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
