Giovanni Rosso Nebbiolo Langhe Rosso 2017
Piedmont, ItalyIt was unusually warm in Piedmont in 2017, although calling warmer vintages unusual is becoming as dodgy as some of the wines that come from them. In this case, a bit of warmth might be welcomed in the vineyards, but it’s the elegance of this nebbiolo that is harmed, so unlike 2016, it sings a little less. That said, many will like this California-like vintage that leaves the fruit softer and rounder and more fun drink now. It’s a matter of style, and it will have its champions. Sticking to what’s normal or authentic, this is less so, at least for the moment. On that note, buy, drink, and enjoy it now through the next five years. Certainly, it would be a good bet with turkey this holiday season.Tasted: 24 September 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $29.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
