Castello di Ama San Lorenzo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2015
Siena, Tuscany, ItalyFrom hills of Gaiole in the southern part of Chianti Classico, comes the Castello di Ama Gran Selezione a blend 80/13/7/ sangiovese, merlot, and malvasia nera. Purity of fruit is the house specialty, and in a warm 2015, this wine has it in spades. Black cherries and blackberries intermingle with bits of dried herbs, leather and earth. The texture is Gran Selezione rich with even richer tannins yet to be dispersed. Our bottle has fine acidity, keeping it lively through the finish. Drink now with a classic Osso Buco dish or cellar through 2025. The 35.42-hectare property sits over a clay/calcareous soil planted 1974, 1978, 1996 35.42 ha.Tasted: 16 November 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Castello di Ama San Lorenzo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2015
Siena, Tuscany, ItalyFrom the community of Gaole in Chianti, the the southern part of Chianti Classico, this is a blend of vines 20-25 years old at 800m, and a mix of 80% sangiovese, 13% merlot, and 7% malvasia nera. After a 3 week long native yeast ferment in stainless for each variety, this was transferred into barriques (22% new) for one year. Perhaps the very warm 2015 vintage is showing through here, as this bottle is showing ample oxidation and brown fruit, with raging ragged tannins housing bitter cherry, tobacco, and leather. The finish is very warm, much more than 13.5% declared would suggest. Drink now, with a rustic hearty stew.Tasted: 12 September 2020Tasted by: Prices:
