Yalumba Samuel's Collection Bush Vine Grenache 2018

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaFrom gnarly old grenache vines 35 years and up across Barossa, this was vinified by block, partial whole bunch, and fully native fermented, with some lots receiving extended skin contact. Post-ferment, all batches are racked into older American, French, and Hungarian hogsheads for six months maturation. Ripe red fruits fill the palate, blanketed by a velveteen mouthfeel, and lofted with a saline freshness. Crushed raspberries, boysenberries, perfumed tayberries are tied off with fresh green herbs and cracked pink peppercorn on the spicy finish. Tannins are present but soft and cushioning, well pitted to support the density of fruit. A charming powerhouse, drinking well now, especially with lamb sausages or fire roasted eggplant.Tasted: 02 February 2021Tasted by: Prices: BC 29.99 private wine shops Producer: Yalumba Wine CompanyDistributors: Negociants International
