Yangarra Old Vine Grenache 2017

McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaThe Yangarra Old Vine Grenache comes from old, biodynamically-farmed bush vines planted in 1946 on the cooler Blewitt Springs estate's deep, sandy soils, at 200m altitude. This utilized 50% whole berry, and was cold soaked for 5 days until the native ferment kicked off. The free run juice was rested in older French barrel for 10 months, prior to bottling without fining or filtration. Ample fragrant black plums, salted cherries, flood the juicy palate, wrapped with bamboo-firm tannins, guiding this to a floral, saline, pink peppercorn dusted finish. Lovely freshness here, belying its 14.5% right up until the slightly warming, grenache-hallmark finish. Drinking well know, especially with fire grilled beets and / or pork.Tasted: 04 February 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
