Yarra Valley, Victoria, AustraliaLuke Lambert's top chardonnay, this rings with cool climate Yarra minerality. From the same vineyard as his Syrah, these 23 year old vines grow on a layer of volcanic soils over granite studded yellow clays, on a higher altitude, windy site. After a native ferment and ample oxidative handling, this was aged 9 months in older puncheons, and bottled without fining or filtration. Waves of flint stride through a savoury edged palate, led by granite, white grapefruit pith, quince, green pear. The body is sveltely lees-shaped, acidity is lip-smacking, and the finish is lengthy and saline.
