Westcott Vineyards Block 76 Chardonnay 2018
Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaFrom Vinemount Ridge, this rich, full, and powerful clone 76 chardonnay (hence, the block name) comes from a tiny 1 acre southeast facing vineyard. After a native ferment and full malo in oak, (25% of which was new), this remained on lees with little bâtonnage. Forward and powerful, but still svelte, this streams hazelnut, fine spice, lemon curd and ripe pear. Now, in youth, this may be a little oak forward for some, but those bones will reward with time because this has the acidity and energy to carry it far.
