Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRMX is a remix of the classic GSM blend, but with five grapes led by grenache (27 percent) mixed with syrah (25 percent), mourvèdre (22 percent), malbec (20 percent), and 6 percent viognier. It is all grown and handpicked from three different Dhaliwal Family (Kismet) estate vineyards on the Osoyoos Lake benches. The reds were cofermented with the viognier in oak vats and stainless steel before the entire wine is aged in French oak (15 percent new) for 14 months. There is a lot to like here, although it could be more intense. That work will have to come from the vineyard. In the meantime, the freshness of grenache is attractive, as are the floral viognier notes, and spicy syrah, with the mourvèdre adding structure. A great start, but it will need some fine-tuning to reveal more concentration and its south Okanagan identity. Serve now with barbecue ribs, or grilled lamb Mediterranean style.Tasted: 12 July 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
