Hollick Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Coonawarra, South Australia, AustraliaFrom vineyards planted in the 70s and 80s, this shows a slightly lifted, expressive nose that's equal parts ripe black fruits and eucalyptus, with a smattering of oak spices (from 20% new French oak). Coonawarra is often more a restrained, structured style of cabernet, especially when you consider that they still generally hit 14+% abv, and that's the case here. Medium-full bodied, it's more linear than broad, with firm, fine-grained tannins that will easily allow this to age for least five years. If you can't wait, pour it into a decanter and then head to your favourite butcher.Tasted: 05 July 2020Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:BC | $39.99 | 750ml | select private retailers |
