Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis Blind Creek Vineyard viognier hails from the Similkameen Valley, and the wildfire 2018 growing season that blocked off a lot of sunlight, retarding the ripening schedule. But slow can result in more intense flavours at lower potential alcohol levels and healthy natural acidity levels, all on show here. The wine is pressed whole bunch and fermented in stainless steel yielding an apricot and nectarine nose with floral, orange blossom undercurrents. Tasted twice now, and the mid-weight palate remains lively, with similar flavours. Ready to drink.
