Painted Rock Syrah 2017
Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom syrah clones 99 and 100, this was aged for 18 months in oak, of which roughly one-third was new. 80 percent was French wood, and 20 percent was American. At the moment, the oak is quite forward and not fully integrated with the opulent, ripe black fruits. It’s a full throttle style, which sacrifices some freshness and varietal character for bold fruit, weightier body, and alcohol, with 14.8% declared. Give this some time to allow the oak to further integrate; the densely concentrated fruit and sinewy tannins aren't going anywhere over the next 2-3 years.Tasted: 14 June 2020Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:BC | $39.99 | 750ml | winery online/direct, select private retailers, restaurants |
