Meyer Family Vineyards Chardonnay Micro Cuvée Old Main Road Vineyard 2018

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMicro Cuvée is one of several chardonnays produced by Meyer Family Vineyards, but it is considered the flagship. A small lot bottling from Naramata's Old Main Road Vineyard, it fights the heat with a north-facing aspect and old-ish vines planted in 1996. After a long, cool native ferment in stainless, it spends eleven months on lees in 33 percent new oak. The final blend is a barrel selection: one new French puncheon; and 2 x 1-year-old puncheons. Micro Cuvée is serious stuff, and you sense that from the first taste of, appropriately, Meyer Lemon combined with green apple, mineral, salty flavours that persist through the length and width of the wine. The acidity hums throughout, and at 13.5 percent, so too does Okanagan Fslls. No rush to drink this. One of the best in the valley and consistently so in the last three or four years.Tasted: 31 May 2020Tasted by: Prices:
