G. D. Vajra Barbera d'Alba 2018

Piedmont, ItalyMost barbera present with more aggressive acidity, but the Vajra opens with finesse, violets, and bright red fruit scents. The palate is equally inviting with more powerful blue, red, mineral, fruit flavours that finish balanced and fresh with tobacco. A perfect wine for spaghetti and meatballs now, or cellar through 2023. G.D. Vajra was established in 1972, and the wines are all about natural flavours. The fruit grows at 400 metres above sea level in the village of Vergne in the commune of Barolo. Considered a traditionalist, Vaira balances old style winemaking methods with modern techniques, namely temperature controlled ferments.Tasted: 13 June 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
