Farmhouse California Red Wine

Farmhouse California Red Wine 2018

California, United StatesThe reasonably priced Farmhouse Red first came to my attention because it was made by family owned California producer Cline Family Cellars. Farmhouse is named for the old schoolhouse pictured on the label, located at the 140-acre Green String Farm in Petaluma, California. The building is a library/study for those looking to learn the Green String method of sustainable farming. The blend is a 59/15/26 mix of zinfandel, syrah, along with bits of carignan, mourvedre and petite sirah. The attack is juicy, grapey zinfandel with a milk chocolate underlay and plenty of superripe red fruit. If you like your reds big, soft, and on the sweet side, this is it. The Green String farming method promotes the use of compost, compost tea, crushed volcanic rock and oyster shell mineral supplements. Half the crops are grown for human consumption and the other half for nature by using rotating cover crops that enrich the soil.Tasted: 10 June 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices: BC 17.99 BCLS AB 18.11 select private wine shops MB 19.99 Manitoba Liquor Mart Producer: Cline Family CellarsDistributors: Icon Fine Wine and Spirits
